ENYCLT Membership Application

If you are on board with our mission and can commit to the membership requirements below, then we want you to become a member of the ENYCLT!

Our Mission: 

To protect, stabilize and expand the stock of affordable homes, locally-owned small businesses and green spaces in East New York and Brownsville for the benefit of low- to moderate- income, BIPOC residents. ENYCLT envisions a healthy, self-sustaining community where our needs are provided ‘for us, by us’ and where we can build the collective wealth of the whole community.

Membership Requirements:

Before your membership application is accepted you must commit to attending at least 3 ENYCLT sponsored meetings or community events prior to ENYCLT’s Autumn Soiree on September 15 where you will graduate with a cohort of new members. 

Once you are a member, you must: 

  • Attend our General Membership Meetings held on a quarterly basis (4 times a year)
  • Attend our Annual Membership Meeting held once a year
  • Actively participate in at least one committee. The committees meet for one hour on a weekly or biweekly basis, depending on the committee. This is equal to around 6-10 hours of your time a month in total.

Membership Benefits: 

  • Receive free skill-based trainings on an ongoing basis (social media, financial literacy, first time home-buying, grant writing, community gardening etc.)
  • Receive free knowledge-based workshops on an ongoing basis about urban policy, housing finance and development, cooperative economics, non-profit management and more. 
  • Plan and participate in community building events like walking tours, block parties, outdoor movies and more. 
  • Be a part of a group of like-minded individuals trying to protect and bring up their neighborhood together 

Membership Types:

  • Community Member (you live in East New York or Brownsville, zip codes: 11212, 11207, 11208)
    • Attend and vote on issues that are presented at general membership meetings, nominate and vote for CLT members to be on the board, participate in committees, attend special trainings/workshops and access materials on various topics (e.g. land use and zoning procedures, real estate development, financial education, organizing and communications).
  • Ally Member (you do not live in East New York or Brownsville but you care about the mission and want to support)
    • As an ally member you have the right to: attend general membership meetings, participate in committees, attend special trainings/workshops and access materials on various topics (e.g. land use and zoning procedures, real estate development, financial education, organizing and communications).

If you selected Ally Member, please pay your annual dues of $50 electronically (the payment box on this page).
